Course contents

The Master’s Program in Biotechnological and Chemical Sciences in Diagnostics belongs to the ministerial degree classes LM-8 (Industrial Biotechnologies) and LM-54 (Chemical Sciences). The Program arises from the need to provide cultural and educational support to the development of the medical diagnostics field.
The Program is characterized by a high level of innovation, derived both from its interclass nature and the thematic content, along with the resulting educational and professional profile, making it unique in the national landscape and quite rare in the international context. Further distinctive elements include a blended learning approach (10% of the offered credit units in digital learning) and the delivery of courses in English, which increases its international appeal and enhances the employability of graduates.
Incoming students will need to demonstrate basic knowledge in the fields of chemistry, molecular/cellular biology, and biotechnology. The educational path aims to develop a profile with high levels of competence and professionalism in the field of scientific and technical-production development, characterizing the chemistry and biotechnology applied to the biomedical diagnostics field.
Fundamental pillars of the educational path include experimental activities within the scope of thesis work and internships, which, through agreements and partnerships with interested institutions/companies, will allow students to apply and integrate the knowledge acquired in the Program within a research and/or productive environment. The professional profile of outgoing students and the career opportunities for master's graduates encompass academic and public/private research contexts, as well as the chemical, pharmaceutical, and biotechnological industry.
