15th ALMALAUREA SURVEY ON THE GRADUATES' PROFILE
A financial, economic and – more and more – social crisis carries on to affect all European countries, and more strongly some of them like Italy. One of the main effects of the crisis, on a cultural level, is based on a paradox: on the one side, young people are discouraged to work hard in order to acquire high level competencies, and financing for higher education and high level training is drastically declining, weakening the constitutional right to education;on the other, the necessity to revitalize the economy, to initiate a process of innovation, to provide workers with better qualifications and to promote a stronger didactical efficacy at university level is constantly invoked. Moreover, this paradox represents a source of dis-orientation for those hundreds of thousands of families and recent graduates who have to choose whether or not it is convenient to continue to study.
These are some of the topics that will be discussed during the AlmaLaurea National Conference, when the 15th AlmaLaurea Survey on Graduates’ Profile 2012 (225.000 graduates from 63 AlmaLaurea universities; two more comparing with the previous year) on Choices, process, results of higher education will be presented. On the same day all the documentation, by university and degree course of study, will be accessible on the AlmaLaurea webpage. Theis documentation will contribute to provide high school students with easier orientation through AlmaDiploma and AlmaOrièntati services.
Furthermore, the conference will include a focus on the renewed interest for didactics in the framework of the accreditation process of degree courses of study, as well as a roundtable on quality and assessment of higher education in Italy and abroad.
