Grants, awards and participation at events opportunities for students, PhD students and early career researchers

Regional Studies Association is supporting students and early career researchers through different events and grant opportunities.

Within these unprecedented times, the Regional Studies Association (RSA) is committed to supporting the global community and the research in regional studies and its related fields, including urban and rural studies, city-regions and interstitial spaces.

We have launched a special grant scheme Small Grant Scheme on Pandemics, Cities, Regions & Industry to support the global community in researching and disseminating evidence about how regions, cities and industry are dealing with the impact of the Coronavirus (COVID-19). In offering this funding, the RSA is seeking to promote and encourage research and dissemination activities, both within and across trans-national borders and to further the overall aims and objectives of the Association. This award is open to single applicants or team of researchers.

  • Value: up to £4,000
  • Application Deadline: 22nd June 2020

Due to the current circumstances, we have decided to extend the deadlines for our individual research grants:

These Grants operate a two stage application and assessment process. In the first round, applicants are asked to submit an expression of interest. The Expression of Interest should submitted via the form on the website. Shortlisted applicants from this first round will then be asked to submit a full proposal as part of the final selection round.

The application deadline for the RSA Travel grant and RSA Research Network grant schemes have been postponed to 2021.
