Managing and accompanying the digital transformation

High-level training that prepares managers of the future in the fields of Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security and Internet of Things: discover the Master's program in Digital Technology Management at the Bologna Business School.

The Bologna Business School offers three fully English-language courses in the digital field. The master’s in Digital Technology Management with a focus on Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security and Internet of Things is a highly professional program that cultivates experts in the field of digital transformation. Agents of change and managers of information security and process efficiency, graduates will understand how to promote, support and disseminate the current transformation process, a true global industrial revolution. The following is an interview with Maurizio Gabbrielli, director and scientific coordinator of the master's program.

What skill sets and knowledge are necessary in the field of digital management?
“The digital transformation is deeply changing the organization of modern enterprises and their management structure. Modern, innovative companies need highly skilled managers who have both the technical competences needed to master the new digital technologies, and the management skills required for decision-making positions”.

Why is the topic of IA so critical today?
“Artificial Intelligence is deeply transforming every aspect of our lives, including our jobs and our business activities. Together with an advanced technical knowledge of new AI and ML techniques, new managers need skills that enable them to turn these techniques into business opportunities and to tackle the emerging challenges for enterprises”.

Why is the issue of cyber security so important today?
“Cybersecurity today is one of the most relevant and challenging issue for any organization, including SMEs, due to the increasing reliance on computer systems and communications. Managers are increasingly confronted with the need to understand possible vulnerabilities and threats - and their technical and economic implications - in order to define appropriate countermeasures".

Why is the IOT theme so essential today?
“IoT technologies are one of the pillars of the Industry 4.0 revolution. Beyond the mere understanding of the technological IoT stack, IoT experts and managers today need to master the innovation potential of IoT: how to harness potentialities on the device level, how to identify innovation opportunities and how to propose new service and process models”.

What professional skills do graduates obtain from the master’s program?
“This master’s program produces managers who have both traditional management skills and technical competences. This is accomplished by using a two-stage approach: The first stage offers classic management courses as well as specialized courses for managing the digital transformation that are offered to all the participants. The second stage provides specific technical formation for one of the three different specializations, which can be chosen from: Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security and IoT”.

Why makes these professional skills necessary?
“The need for managers who have both traditional management skills and technical competences is clearly expressed by companies who have more and more difficulties in finding the right professional figures for jobs connected to management of innovation and of digital technologies”.

In which fields can graduates work?
“The graduates of our master’s program can work in any company that is interested in digital transformation and innovation. This means virtually any company, and it is indeed important to note that graduates of previous editions of our master’s program are now working not only in ICT companies, but also in the fields of manufacturing, tourism, food and even at institutions such as the UN”.

Does the program offer any field activity opportunities?
“Many courses are taught by people within the industry and include a “hands-on” laboratory activity where students can tackle concrete problems. Moreover, all specialisations include a “Field Work Laboratory,” which addresses concrete business cases involving digital technologies”.

Cost: 14.800

Scholarships: There are scholarships for 6,000 euros and scholarships for 4,000 euros. All applicants will be considered for a scholarship – no specific application is required. They are awarded over the course of every round of selection and if you have performed well enough to merit one, you will be informed at the moment of admission.
The scholarships act as tuition waivers, so that they result in a deduction from the total amount of the tuition fees due.
