The project aims at innovating the university placement system in Emilia-Romagna, making the region a reference model in Italy and in Europe as concerns the efficient use of big data and artificial intelligence. In line with the regional law n. 2/2023 and the regional strategies for innovation and economic-territorial development, the project expects to improve the job placement of university graduates through a precise and personalized matching system connecting academic profiles and job opportunities.

The actions to be carried out are perfectly in phase with the promotion of sustainable development and digital transition, foreseeing the creation of a more equitable and competitive environment for graduates and businesses. The integration with the AlmaLaurea platform ensures an effective synergy between the existing databases, boosting the placement service with advanced techniques of artificial intelligence.

The project tangible expected results include an increase in the efficacy of the graduates’ job placement, the reduction of costs for firms seeking for qualified human resources to hire and an overall strengthening of the regional productive capacities. A substantial improvement of the academic supply programming is also expected, through the enrichment of the information on the professional paths of graduates

The project implementation is based on technologies such as Java Springboot, Python Pytorch/Tensorflow and vectorial databases like Milvus, together with the use of advanced models of artificial intelligence.

In accordance with the national and European standards on data protection and the European regulations on artificial intelligence, the project guarantees the protection of personal information and adheres to the ethical principles of artificial intelligence use. The actions are designed to enhance the access opportunities in line with the European Pillar on Social Rights and the Agenda 2030, emphasising inclusion, diversity and digital accessibility.

Ultimately, the project commits to deliver more efficient and inclusive placement services, promoting a virtuous circle towards sustainable development that fosters interaction between university education and regional job market, reducing the employment mismatch and promoting the economic growth

AlmaLaurea Interuniversity Consortium’s role

Following a general review of the software application and a substantial adjustment of the databank, AlmaLaurea Interuniversity Consortium will integrate the new module to be created in the framework of the project within the software platform managing the placement activity already used by the universities of the region, allowing:

  1. a) the graduates’ CV search in the databank through search prompts expressed in natural language describing the position and its features;
  2. b) the boosting of the integrated managing system of job vacancies, acting on the matching system;
  3. c) the identification of the fields of study and research that can satisfy the firms’ needs (recruitment, R&D activities).

The Consortium activity will focus on the management and treatment of the new data sources and on the modifications of the placement platform needed for the successful integration of the new functionalities.

Furthermore, the Consortium will support the scientific project leader for the statistical analysis, putting at the disposal the know-how acquired thanks to the surveys on Graduates Profile and Employment Condition, and for the treatment and analysis of other data sources (e.g. Comunicazioni Obbligatorie) available at university level.

AlmaLaurea srl’s role

AlmaLaurea srl will provide its knowledge and expertise in terms of recruiting platform management, selection and training of human resources as well as job orientation. Furthermore, it will put at the project disposal its contact network with firms during the testing and dissemination phases.

AlmaLaurea srl will carry out job intermediation events between graduates and firms, through an innovative format aiming at orienteering students looking for a first job and at allowing firms to test the new tools. Moreover, sectorial events adjusted to the more widespread productive chains throughout the territory and to the specificities of Unimore study fields will also be organized.

Training sessions devoted to firms for illustrating the new tools of the platform will be delivered, exploiting AlmaLaurea srl professionalism and long-lasting experience in the dialogue with the business world.
